6

For Jim,

Six years ago today, our agonizing (joy filled agony) engagement was over, and praise the Lord we were one. After six years on this road together, life has not always been easy, but God has always been good, and I can confidently say that marriage, with you, has been far, far more amazing than I ever could have imagined, and you, my husband, are far, far greater a man than I once ever could have imagined spending my life with- and I had very high expectations for both. No, the road hasn't always been easy, but it's been so, so good- every fun, passionate, mundane, exciting, tension-filled, blessed step of the way. We've made it to our fifth address in six years- and every new place has been home, because you are there with me. We've made it to our fourth child in six years too- and it's been a joy to see the love in our home multiply by 100% with each. Our love was good and pure to begin with, and has only grown deeper and more rich with every day we've walked this road together- and I know it will grow deeper still, as we grow deeper and deeper in the love given us by the One who brought us and holds us together- the One who loved us first, and who we each loved first, before we ever set eyes on each other. As I reflect today on this priceless, incredible gift of oneness with you, I am only filled with gratitude from the core of who I am for all I was and am given in you, my lover, my leader, my best friend. You're the only one I want to be with, the only one I want to swap stories with at the end of the day. You're the only one I want to eat "secret" ice cream with when everyone else is sleeping, and you're the only man I love. There is absolutely no room in my heart for any other, you've got it all. Happy Anniversary, good, good husband of mine.

I love you,

Me

Oh wow ... that is so cool. My fiance and I are getting married next April and whereas I know that I'll feel this way six years from now, it's so reassuring to hear someone use the words "mundane" in the same sentence they use "passionate" and "exciting." Because love is a journey and like any car trip you take, there are some scenic parts and then you're driving through eastern Nebraska. :) (No offense to Nebraska readers ...)

SK you're funny! eastern Nebraska is really boring!

How beautiful, Megan. I think that you should send this to Dr. Laura and let her share it with her vast aduiance. I wish all young women would realize that there will be mundane times, hard times, sad times, etc. along with the happy, exciting and wonderful times. It is all a part of the journey. The important thing is to keep going forward together.

Congrats on your 6th anniversary. May God bless you and your family

p.s. I needed your post today. I've been married almost 43 years. I love my husband dearly but today he was being a little bit of a brat and I was preturbed.

Yours was the first post I read and I just had to laugh. It was as if you were writing just for me....and you are right....it is all just a part of the journey. Good for you.... thanks for reminding this old lady how lucky I am to be on this road with my sweet companion and husband.
