Podcasts.

I don't listen to that many.  But I'm devoted to them.  I spend a lot of very early mornings tuned in while I work.

Jim listens to many of the same ones, and has a few of his own.  I'm just going to talk about mine.  But-  he listens to his on his way to work in the morning.  So, we're podcasting simultaneously.  Isn't that sweet.

A Prairie Home Companion.  It's an American institution.  You're laughing, you're entertained, you're crying like a baby, you're amazed at the startlingly accurate depiction of the great people of Minnesota.  It makes me nostalgic for a time that I wasn't even alive for.  We love it.

Composer's Datebook.  Look, you don't have to love this one.  But I love the little snippet of music and history and the connection of knowing it happened on this date in history.

The Writers Almanac.  Again, Garrison Keillor

His smooth, iconic voice just smothers me in goodness.  Like butter over hot Minnesota sweet corn.  And again, it's not interesting to everyone, but I love the little bit of literary history, some stories about authors, their work, tied to the day's date, and then he reads poetry to us.  It's wonderful.

This American Life.  It's a mixed bag of all kinds of things, great stories.

Relevant.  If you could judge a favorite by how much you anticipate it, this is my favorite.  I am right there every Friday morning to see if it's in iTunes yet.  I laugh out loud, alone, then recount the funny parts with Jim later when he's home.  I love the interviews, I love the ridiculous stuff they do, I love the music, I love it.  If you don't subscribe to the magazine, you may want to.

Again, feel free to add suggestions in the comment section.

A Prairie Home Companion is what we listen to every Saturday evening while eating homemade pizza. Our little tradition.

The other podcasts I listen to religiously are The Splendid Table (have you tried this--a must try for foodies everywhere) and Revive Our Hearts is my morning dose of spiritual encouragement.

Just wondering if you listen to anything like Mark Driscoll, John Piper,Tullian Tchividijian, or Boundless- podcasts that point thoughts and priorities toward Christ. There is enough of the other side heard from the world without trying. RS
