The Shack, Part 2

Here's what I worked up for my closet- this is a valance I found on clearance a year ago, and I thought it might make a cute table runner- but hadn't used it yet. It works great with these hooks I found for .50 for hanging up necklaces etc. Then for the bathroom, I knew I wanted to do a dramatic color, since it would be the only room in the house I could get "dramatic" with- it's small, has a white floor, counter top and shower, etc, so I could do something dark. I absolutely love purple. I have a deep purple necklace I wear all the time and thought I'd go after that...with a whole room. It was also a part of the Serafina print, you know, of course, because all my favorite colors are in there. So anyway, and moving on, I chose SW 6272 Plum Brown, which is very similar to this room, which I really dug when I saw it in Pottery Barn. I have to stop showing you the pictures from Pottery Barn- they put my rooms to shame.
I really love how it turned out. It was a very rainy and dark day, so I didn't have any good natural light, so the pictures are not so hot- some are downright terrible. But trust me, it's the same color as the picture above, and I really love it.

I love how dramatic the change was.

These are some of my favorite love letters...

I wanted mostly black and white accents in the room, because the plum stands on it's own and adding too much other stuff makes it look overdone. I chose this icy picture I took by the lake a couple of years ago, and I did three of the same one, just because. I've always wanted to do that.

Yep, I totally didn't want to buy new frames. And I certainly didn't want to buy new mats. So, I put mats on the pictures themselves and had them printed on glossy paper. I swear they look like they're in a clip frame to me just the same. I stuck a little poster putty behind every corner to discourage curling from moisture, since it was in a bathroom. They are nailed up with a single silver finishing nail. I really like the way it turned out. Very simple and uncomplicated.
And that, my friends, is our Love Shack.

I love it! The purple looks great and I love those love letters!

It took me a minute though to figure out why you had chunks of cheddar cheese in your bathroom!

love love love the color of the walls. You really pulled it off with the wood trim and cabinets. I had that in our first house and I felt so restricted with the colors I could use because I didn't think any kind of browns would go well. But that color is really nice!

When we buy a house next I think I'm going to need you to do my decorating :)

I love it. We had a guest room in Rapid that was the same color. I am trying to talk Luke into letting me use it in our master bedroom at the new house.
